This surgery is considered microsurgery during which the urological surgeon restores the ability of the sperm, formed in the testicle and stored in the epididymis, to exit the penis in order to restore the ability of the male patient to procreate. The surgeon will chose between the option of reconnecting the two ends of the vas deferens or connecting the vas deferens to the epididymis. The patient needs to discuss the likelihood of the surgery restoring fertility to having the surgery. Not all reverse vasectomies are successful in restoring fertility.
